Panini America and Professional Fighters League Announce Trading Card Deal

Panini America, known for its exceptional range of sports and entertainment collectibles, has unveiled a groundbreaking partnership with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), a rapidly growing and innovative sports organization. This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in the world of MMA trading cards, promising exciting developments for fans and collectors alike.

The alliance between Panini and PFL will pave the way for the introduction of new and captivating products in the market. The partnership will kick off with the launch of Panini Instant, an innovative direct-to-consumer platform that will provide fans with real-time and relevant collectibles related to MMA. Following this debut, fans can anticipate the release of PFL Prizm later in the year, a highly anticipated addition to the trading card category.

Jason Howarth, the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Athlete Relations at Panini America, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. He highlighted the immense growth and global presence of the PFL, emphasizing its potential to invigorate the MMA trading card sector, which is already a vibrant segment of Panini’s offerings. This partnership aims to deepen fan engagement in the sport by offering exclusive Panini products featuring PFL athletes and events.

Bryan Calka, the Chief Commercial Officer of the PFL, echoed this excitement, recognizing Panini America’s leadership in the collectibles industry. He underlined the PFL’s dedication to providing MMA enthusiasts worldwide with premium experiences and high-value offerings, both of which are expected to be elevated through this joint venture with Panini.

A distinctive feature of this partnership is the introduction of digital trading card collectibles, including Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This move reflects the evolving preferences of collectors who are increasingly embracing digital formats alongside traditional physical cards, enhancing the overall trading card experience.

This collaboration comes at a pivotal moment as the PFL gears up to launch the second half of its 2024 Global Season on June 13 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The season will unfold through events in Salt Lake City and South Dakota, where fighters across six weight classes will vie for playoff berths and the prestigious title of PFL World Champion, along with a lucrative $1 million prize.

Setting itself apart in the MMA landscape, the PFL follows a sports-season format akin to major league sports, with athletes competing in a structured regular season, playoffs, and championship rounds. The league not only enhances the visibility of the sport through its innovative SmartCage technology, facilitating advanced fight analytics and a cutting-edge viewing experience but also expands its reach globally with initiatives like PFL Europe and PFL MENA.

As a subsidiary of the Panini Group based in Italy, Panini America boasts over six decades of experience in the collectibles industry and maintains significant partnerships across various sports and entertainment domains. Leveraging its global presence and robust distribution network, the company ensures that PFL trading cards will have broad accessibility, bolstering the visibility and appeal of both brands in the collectibles market.

The partnership between Panini America and the Professional Fighters League is poised to revolutionize the world of sports memorabilia, blending innovation with the dynamic realm of MMA. Fans can anticipate a diverse array of collectibles that celebrate the sport’s excitement and its talented athletes, offering a thrilling new dimension to the trading card experience.
