Topps and Disney Expand Trading Card Partnership

Topps, a renowned division of Fanatics Collectibles, is making waves in the trading card industry with its latest partnership expansion alongside Disney Consumer Products. This exciting development grants Topps global rights to produce trading cards featuring beloved characters and stories from the iconic world of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. The new agreement also marks a significant milestone as it allows Topps to develop and distribute physical Marvel trading cards on a global scale for the first time ever.

The collaboration with Disney doesn’t stop there, as the extended deal also includes continuing Topps’ long-standing global partnership with the Star Wars franchise. This relationship, which dates back to 1977, has brought joy to collectors for decades with its unique and diverse range of trading cards.

First on the agenda for this expanded partnership is the launch of Topps Finest X-Men ’97 in the first quarter of 2025. This release is perfectly timed to capitalize on the renewed interest in the X-Men franchise and serves as a significant stepping stone for Topps as it ventures into global distribution of Marvel cards.

The collaboration encompasses both physical and digital trading cards for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars franchises across the globe. While Topps has previously released digital collectibles through specific apps, this expanded agreement will see a broader range of physical product offerings, particularly in the United States.

Excitement is palpable among the key players involved, with Paul Gitter, Executive Vice President of Global Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, expressing his enthusiasm for broadening the partnership. According to David Leiner, President of Trading Cards at Fanatics Collectibles, the focus is on enhancing the fan experience. The collaboration aims to bring innovative products and unparalleled storytelling to card collecting enthusiasts worldwide.

With a rich history of producing trading cards in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, Topps is now set to make a global impact with its extended partnership with Disney. By combining Disney’s captivating storytelling with Topps’ expertise in collectible trading cards, the collaboration intends to create unique and groundbreaking products that resonate with fans around the world.

Collectors have much to anticipate with a diverse range of trading cards on the horizon that celebrate the enchantment of Disney, the imagination of Pixar, the thrill of Marvel superheroes, and the epic tales of Star Wars. The partnership aims to offer fresh designs, one-of-a-kind collectibles, and immersive experiences, promising a new era of excitement for trading card enthusiasts worldwide.
