Rare Baseball Cards and Memorabilia Auction

This spring, collectors and enthusiasts alike have the chance to delve into a treasure trove of baseball history with an extraordinary auction by Huggins & Scott. Boasting over 1,600 remarkable lots, this event is a must-see for anyone passionate about baseball memorabilia. At the forefront of this auction is the rare T206 Sherry “Magie” error card, a part of the distinguished ‘Big Four’ in the T206 series. The card’s allure lies in a unique misspelling of outfielder Sherry Magee’s name, quickly rectified, rendering the error cards highly sought after and extremely scarce. Standing alongside baseball legends like Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, and Doyle NY Nat’l, the Magie card holds a special place in the hearts of collectors worldwide.

Adding to the excitement are three recently unearthed 1910 Baltimore News Orioles cards, a surprising and significant discovery in the realm of baseball card collecting. Part of a rare schedule-card set predating the well-known 1914 BN set housing Babe Ruth’s rookie card, these cards offer a glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of baseball history, making them a prized find for enthusiasts and historians alike.

The auction presents an array of pre-war gems, including coveted cards like a 1934 World Wide Gum Babe Ruth (PSA 3) and Lou Gehrig (SGC 3), an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Mike “King” Kelly (SGC 6), an 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward (PSA 6), and a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Honus Wagner (PSA 4). These historic pieces reflect the illustrious past of the sport and are sure to capture the attention of seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.

Not to be outdone, the auction also showcases post-war baseball cards of exceptional quality. Highlights include a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (PSA 3), a 1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie (PSA 2), Hank Aaron’s 1954 Topps rookie (PSA 6) and 1955 Topps (PSA 8), a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax (PSA 7), and a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie high number (PSA 4). Additionally, a 1961 Topps set featuring 524 autographed cards out of the 572 available, as well as signed memorabilia from baseball greats such as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente, will be up for bidding.

The excitement is already palpable as bidding for these priceless pieces of baseball history is currently underway and will conclude on Thursday, April 4, with the initial bids closing at 9 PM ET. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to own a slice of baseball’s past, with rare finds and cherished memorabilia that will captivate even the most discerning collectors.
