Memory Lane’s Exclusive Auction Showcases Rare Vintage Card Collection

Memory Lane, a renowned auction house specializing in sports memorabilia, is currently hosting its distinguished Premier Auction. This highly anticipated event, which runs until February 4th, showcases a meticulously curated collection of 120 vintage sports cards, captivating collectors with its limited yet impressive selection.

The auction’s catalog is filled with historically significant and highly sought-after cards, making it a must-see for any serious sports card enthusiast. One of the crown jewels of the auction is the 1909 T204 Ramly Walter Johnson rookie card. With only two copies in NM/MT condition graded PSA 8, this rarity quickly attracted a six-figure bid. Equally captivating is the T206 Ty Cobb Portrait (Green) card, of which only three copies exist in PSA 7 grade, along with a highly rated PSA 6 Cobb ‘Bat Off Shoulder’ Old Mill back.

The pre-war era is further represented by exceptional pieces like the PSA 7 graded T206 Cy Young card and the highest graded PSA 9 T206 Nap Lajoie (Throwing) card. However, the spotlight truly shines on the 1950s, with the iconic 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle card in PSA 9 grade stealing the show. With only 13 in existence at this level and just two known to be graded higher, this card is a true collector’s dream.

Mickey Mantle’s legacy continues to dominate the auction, featuring six additional cards from the 1950s, each graded either 8 or 9. Among them are prized versions from the 1953 Topps and Bowman series, adding to the allure for fans of the legendary Yankees player.

Roberto Clemente, one of the most beloved and iconic figures in baseball history, also takes center stage in this auction. His cards from 1956 to 1973, particularly numerous Mint 9 graded examples, outnumber those of any other player. The collection includes a wide range of Clemente cards, allowing collectors to explore the evolution of his career.

Willie Mays, another baseball legend, is prominently featured with exceptional pieces such as a rare 1962 Topps card graded PSA 9. Additionally, a 1970 Topps card, one of only two graded PSA 10, adds a touch of exclusivity to this remarkable collection.

The auction also offers opportunities for football and basketball enthusiasts to acquire high-grade rookie cards of iconic players. Football fans can find rookie cards of Frank Gifford, Johnny Unitas, and Joe Namath, all in pristine condition. Meanwhile, basketball collectors will be delighted to discover rookie cards of Bill Russell (PSA 7), Wilt Chamberlain (PSA 8), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (PSA 8), Larry Bird/Magic Johnson (PSA 9), and Michael Jordan (PSA 8).

Memory Lane’s Premier Auction is an event that sports card collectors cannot afford to miss. It provides a unique opportunity to acquire rare and historically significant pieces of sports history. Whether you’re a fan of baseball, football, or basketball, this auction has something for everyone. Make sure to visit Memory Lane’s website to explore the full catalog and place your bids before the auction concludes on February 4th.
